What happens in a session
Sessions take place in the paddock and round yard, always on the ground. Your counsellor and equine specialist set up a simple activity with the horses, then step back so you can approach it in your own way. Afterwards you talk about what happened and what it might mean in the rest of your life.
There is no riding and no horse experience is needed. The horses are free to respond however they choose, and that honest response is often where the insight comes from.
The Eagala model
Eagala is the internationally recognised standard for equine assisted psychotherapy. Every session includes a licensed mental health professional and a qualified equine specialist. The work is solution-focused and client-led: we believe you are the expert in your own life.
Your first visit
We start with a conversation about what you would like to change, walk you through how we keep everyone safe, and introduce you to the herd. The first session is gentle, unhurried and entirely at your pace.
